Management Biographies
Dan Hirt, President
After graduating from the School of Applied Arts in Switzerland,
and serving a four-year apprenticeship as a dot etcher, Dan
furthered his mastery of print processes by completing additional
scanning and digital assembly coursework at Linotype/Hell
in Germany. Upon completion of his education, Dan moved to
California and joined Primary Color's production and sales
team. By 1993, Dan's print expertise and industry knowledge
led to his promotion to President. He has been instrumental
in adopting new technologies that have earned Primary Color
its reputation as an industry leader.
Ron Hirt, Vice President
of Sales & Marketing
Educated in Switzerland, Ron was trained as a print craftsman
and has an extensive knowledge of the entire graphic arts process.
He continued his studies in Germany at Heidelberg's renowned
prepress facility, operating the first computerized electronic
prepress system (CEPS). Upon completion of his program, Ron joined
Primary Color, where his expertise enabled him to build an impressive
client base and earned him a vice presidency in 1993. Ron's digital
initiatives have garnered national recognition for Primary Color,
including its ranking as one of the top-ten largest prepress
companies and the third fastest growing printing company in the
U.S. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Ron is also
an active member of PIA and APALA.
Mike Hirt, Vice President
of Production
Mike was born and educated in South Africa. In 1986 he moved
to California and joined Primary Color, where he quickly developed
and managed prepress and print workflows. His implementation
of these processes has been critical to the company's success.
Mike is now responsible for assessing capital investments for
all areas of production, and integrating new equipment and products
into Primary Color's two plants. Mike also contributes to the
company's new business development efforts.
